What is HARP?

Healthy AIDS Recovery Program (HARP) is designed to increase social support and treatment among clients facing mental health conditions and drug use disorders. For those who are unaware of their HIV and Hepatitis C status, support groups are available by a certified peer support staff.

Here is how we can help you:

  • Engage and connect our clients to support behavioral health and counseling services

  • Provide free HIV and Hepatitis C testing

  • 2. What areas do we serve?
    We serve 23 counties across Northeast Texas, including locations in Tyler, Longview, Texarkana and Paris.
  • 3. What is the program about?
    HARP provides services for adults experiencing mental health conditions or co-occurring disorders, for individuals living with or at risk for HIV and/ or Hepatitis C. HARP delivers HIV/ Hepatitis C testing and prevention services. HARP provides an evidence-based, trauma-informed approach to mental health and substance use treatment, and provides recovery-oriented peer support and case management services to link, assess and coordinate care.
  • 4. How long does the program last?
    HARP is a 12-month program with follow-ups occurring every three to six months.
  • 5. Who is eligible for the HARP program? 
    You must be 18 years or older, with a serious mental illness or co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions.
  • 6. What are the benefits for participants in the program?
    Participants have the opportunity to receive information about HIV/ AIDS, sexually transmitted infections, substance abuse prevention and mental health services.
  • 7. How much does it cost?
    Services offered through the HARP are free.
  • 8. What incentives does HARP provide?
    HARP provides two gift cards - a $15 gift card when you complete the exit survey and a $15 gift card when you complete the three-month follow-up survey as a thank you for your participation in the program.
  • 9. Can you decide not to participate or stop taking part in this program before it is finished? 
    Yes, your participation in the program is voluntary. This means that you can stop the program at any time.

All services provided through HARP are free of charge.
